TasFarmers are thrilled to announce the support for Hagley farm school and Sheffield farm school to implement the farming/biosecurity technology App Onside to be implemented in these two schools.

As part of the governments Support of Enhanced Biosecurity project that is facilitated by TasFarmers, a key area of the project was to showcase the importance of mobile apps such as Onside and how their technology can help enhance efforts to protect farms from Biosecurity threats like plant pests and animal diseases.

Onside has built in traceability records and warnings for biosecurity hazards that may be on farm for visitors. Onside implements On-Farm biosecurity planners for farm managers and helps visitors to comply with these planners to protect the farm from biosecurity risks.

The project will fund the implementation of Onside in the two Agricultural farm schools for a twelve-month period. “We see this as a great opportunity for the next generation of farmers to see the importance of this technology as we believe it’s going to be so helpful in the fight against biosecurity threats”.

With the Tasmanian agriculture industry contributing over $2.4 billion annually at the farm gate, the fight against emergency animal diseases and emergency plant pest outbreaks is of the utmost importance.
