Tasmanian farmers know that adapting to tough seasons is part of life on the land. The TasFarmers Drought Resilience Coordinators, Tas Loane and Sophie Folder, are helping make that challenge a little easier by supporting communities to prepare, adapt and recover when dry conditions strike.
Their important work has recently been showcased in two ABC Landline episodes, each shining a light on the realities of farming in a changing climate:
Across both stories, the Drought Resilience Coordinators are shown working side by side with farmers, identifying regional priorities, running practical workshops, connecting producers with resources, and sharing ideas with government and the TAS Farm Innovation Hub. Their role is to be a central point of contact, ensuring communities are better prepared for the challenges of drought.
The stories highlight the important collaborate efforts of State and Federal Government iniatives, the TAS Farm Innovation Hub, TIA and industry partnerships to help farmers manage and prepare for a future droughts and climate variability.
By telling these stories, ABC Landline has helped elevate the importance of drought preparedness and highlighted how local support and collaboration can make a real difference for Tasmanian farmers.
