Potato Mop Top Virus (PMTV) - Strengthen Your Farm Biosecurity

26 August 2025

How to Prepare

With the discovery of Potato Mop Top Virus in Tasmania recently, farmers are urged to ensure their farm biosecurity plans and procedures are in place, current and tailored to their operations. Including measures to prevent the spread of soil-borne pests and diseases. By putting effective biosecurity practices in place now, Tasmanian farmers can help safeguard crops, maintain market access, and protect the long-term future of their farms. If you do not have a farm biosecurity plan, then you are putting your whole farming operation in jeopardy. We urge you to develop a plan.

If you require assistance, TasFarmers Biosecurity Project Officer Mark Yole can be contacted on 0438 497 565 and is available for face-to-face meetings.  AusVeg also has a dedicated biosecurity advising team.
